Kat & Nick’s Colorado wedding was full of one-of-a-kind and unconventional details—from Kat’s two-piece outfit made from her mother’s 1990 silk dress to a guest map activity and vibrant fall florals by Provision Florals.

Cam and Phil are joy, adventure, and fun all wrapped into one. I had so much fun adventuring up Guanella Pass last October to see what we could find. The views at the top did not disappoint.

In honor of these two getting married a couple weeks back in Steamboat, enjoy a look back on their very “Fall in Colorado” engagement session.

There’s something special about getting to photograph a couple in a place that holds meaning for them—and for Rosie and Chris, that place is Vail, where they both grew up and where their story began. For their engagement photos, they brought their sweet pup, Sur, along for the ride, a golden mountain dog—part retriever, part heart-melter—and completely adored by both of them. Watching the three of them together felt more like tagging along on an evening walk; I loved documenting the way these three share life together.

Last winter (technically “mud season”, in November), I had the privilege of capturing Elizabeth and José’s intimate wedding gathering at Gravity Haus Vail—a chic hotel and venue with just a touch of rustic that embodies everything magical about a winter wedding in the Rockies.

A roaming cow, a dusting of snow, and most importantly, two joyful humans with their favorite furry friends. I feel so grateful to be able to do what I love, freezing moments in time for families like this one.

Along with my favorite combo, my Contax 645 and Canon A-1, I set out to create imagery that would convey these qualities and reflect the grounded and ethereal vibe of Rooted in Wellness. Shooting on film always presents its own set of challenges, one being that on this day, it was particularly cold outside so my shutter acted up a bit. The result? A fiery frame two photos down, unintentionally resembling the strength of Larissa, a woman, wife, mom, and business owner, These little imperfect surprises are part of what makes film photography so special to me. This just wouldn’t have happened if I was shooting with my digital camera, without some doctoring on the backend.
